Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 April 2025
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the London Trade Registry platform (“Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and London Trade Registry Ltd, registered in England and Wales.
2. The Platform
London Trade Registry operates an assigned-trade marketplace that connects customers with vetted tradespeople in London. We are an intermediary platform and are not a party to any contract formed between a customer and a trader. We do not employ tradespeople and are not responsible for the quality of work carried out.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform.
- You must be based in, or seeking services within, Greater London.
- Traders must hold all required qualifications, certifications, and insurance for the trade they register under.
- You must provide accurate and truthful information at registration and keep it up to date.
4. The Peace of Mind fee
Customers pay a non-refundable £10 dispatch fee (“Peace of Mind fee”) when posting a job. This fee covers platform costs, trader vetting, and the assignment process. It is charged immediately upon job submission and does not constitute payment for any trade work.
5. Trader subscriptions and commissions
Traders must maintain an active subscription plan (Starter, Growth, or Scale) to receive and accept job dispatches. Subscription fees are charged monthly and are non-refundable after the first 14 days.
For jobs above £10,000 LTR charges a platform commission of 10% (£10,000–£20,000) or 5% (above £20,000), deducted from funds held in escrow. Commission rates are displayed clearly before job acceptance.
6. Escrow and payment release
For applicable jobs, funds are held in escrow by LTR until the customer confirms satisfactory completion of the work. If a dispute arises, LTR may facilitate mediation but is not liable for any losses arising from the underlying contract. Payment release is governed by the job completion protocol described in the Platform.
7. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Provide false information, including fake qualifications or certifications.
- Attempt to circumvent the Platform by arranging off-platform payments to avoid commission.
- Harass, threaten, or engage in discriminatory behaviour toward other users.
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Platform.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and legal action.
8. Vetting and the Master Test
Traders undergo a vetting process including DBS checks, certification review, and the LTR Master Test. Vetting decisions are final. LTR reserves the right to revoke verified status at any time if standards are not maintained. The vetting fee of £5 is non-refundable.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LTR's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the fees paid by you to LTR in the 3 months preceding the claim. LTR is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic losses, including loss of profit or damage to property arising from trade work.
10. Termination
LTR may suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will do so.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
